What Kinds Of Headlights Are There

Headlamps refer to the lighting devices installed on both sides of the car's head and used for driving at night. There are two-light and four-light systems. The headlamp has the function of high beam and low beam, and the low beam is used at close range; the high beam, as the name implies, it illuminates farther and has a wider field of vision.

In order to ensure driving safety, to enable the driver to identify any obstacles on the road within 100m in front of the car, the lighting distance of the car's high beam is required to be greater than 100m. This data is determined according to the speed of the car. 

Types of headlamps

Car headlamps generally have incandescent, halogen, xenon and other types.

With the continuous development of automobile technology, the incandescent vacuum lamps in the past have been eliminated, and now the headlights of automobiles are mainly halogen lamps and xenon lamps.

✅Halogen headlamp

The halogen lamp has its unique light distribution structure. There are two sets of filaments in each tube light, one of which is the main beam filament. The light emitted is reflected by the reflector of the lampshade and goes straight forward. "High beam"; the other is the polarized beam filament, the light emitted is blocked by the shading plate to the upper part of the reflector of the lampshade, and the reflected light is diffused downward to the ground, and will not be given to oncoming vehicles. This light source is what we usually call "low beam".

✅Xenon headlamps

Xenon lamp, referred to as HID in English, emits light twice as bright as an ordinary halogen lamp, while its energy consumption is only 2/3, and its service life can reach 10 times that of an ordinary halogen lamp. Xenon lamps greatly increase the safety and comfort of driving, and also help to relieve the tension and fatigue of people driving at night.

The driver can detect the danger at the first time, so as to get enough reaction time, which greatly reduces the accident rate at night. At present, the new Audi, Passat, Buick Regal, Mazda and other luxury models launched in China are all equipped with xenon headlights.
